The Melrose Fire District has a 2025 capital project to be voted on the 9th of December for funding to replace the existing Fire Station.

On 12/09/2025 an in person vote was conducted at the Melrose Fire Station from 12 pm to 9 pm. A total of 269 residents came out to vote. 200 residents voted in favor of the building project proposition. 69 residents voted no. The proposition passed to move forward with the tax levy and funding of the project to demolish the existing fire station and re-build a new, modern and more advanced fire station for the Melrose Fire District and the volunteers of the District and The Melrose Fire Company Incorporated.

Impact for The Melrose Fire Co.
This project will greatly benefit and impact The Melrose Fire Company Incorporated. It will give company officers an office to work out of and provide for us a space for an updated kitchen which will enable us to host events where we can cook. We are hoping to be able to bring back a full breakfast with Santa and expand into doing breakfast and/or dinner fundraisers. We will have the necessary workspaces, technologies and storage to enable us to do more for the community.
